January 17, 2011

Hey All,

For the most part this week was a very normal week. No major meetings or anything like that. We were able to spend a good amount of time in our area as well as do a couple of exchanges. Nothing crazy or outrageous.

I'll simply bear my testimony this week. This coming zone conference we will be focusing on the concept of personal revelation and doing the Lord's will. It's been an interesting study topic for the week. As I was studying some of the past General Conference talks on the subject, I came across this quote by Julie B. Beck from the General Relief Society Presidency:

"The ability to qualify for, receive, and act on personal revelation is the single most important skill that can be acquired in this life. Qualifying for the Lord’s Spirit begins with a desire for that Spirit and implies a certain degree of worthiness. Keeping the commandments, repenting, and renewing covenants made at baptism lead to the blessing of always having the Lord’s Spirit with us. Making and keeping temple covenants also adds spiritual strength and power to a woman’s life. Many answers to difficult questions are found by reading the scriptures because the scriptures are an aid to revelation. Insight found in scripture accumulates over time, so it is important to spend some time in the scriptures every day. Daily prayer is also essential to having the Lord’s Spirit with us. Those who earnestly seek help through prayer and scripture study often have a paper and pencil nearby to write questions and record impressions and ideas."
We also learn from President Benson that "Personal Revelation is necessary for salvation." I know for myself personally I have been able to expand my capacity to receive and recognize personal revelation while being a missionary. It is such a key part of what we do. I know that as we strive to seek personal revelation, to really seek guidance from Heavenly Father, we will be able to find true happiness in our lives.

I know that this gospel is true. I know that we can read the Book of Mormon, ask Heavenly Father if it is true, and if we listen he will manifest unto us of it veracity by the power of the Holy Ghost. I invite everyone to take this challenge: read or re-read the Book of Mormon and then pray to know if it is true. I know that you will receive an answer from our Heavenly Father. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

Sincerely,
Elder Klemme
